My name is Paul and I’m a human-centered design professional with more than two decades of experience managing long-term research and design projects across the legal, public, non-profit, and private sectors. I help teams conduct and apply mixed-methods research to make products and services more useful for customers.
I am a design and strategy consultant with a track record of clarifying complex concepts and communicating them in a way that engages and catalyzes change for stakeholders. I have applied those skills in a diverse range of contexts, including founding FEMA’s Digital Customer Experience team and co-authoring the agency’s first ever Customer Experience Strategic Plan; leading the research and development of the Office of Personnel Management’s Retirement Quick Guide; designing a persuasive trial presentation that won a $521M verdict; and developing a pop-up event sharing insights on a decade of data on homelessness in Washington state.
I address all of these challenges with an interdisciplinary and human-centered approach to problem solving that emphasizes actionable research, creative collaboration, and visual storytelling. I use this perspective to help make the complicated simple in order to build consensus among relevant stakeholders and drive strategic decision-making in the face of ambiguous problems.
